Tulsans AREN’T happy about PSO bill increase – But there is one simple explanation
Recently, a woman shared his PSO bill on social media and explained why she was shocked to see the price rise, despite his house being without electricity for five days during the storms. Like many others, this Tulsan believed her bill would drop due to using less electricity compared to the previous month. In fairness, this is a very common sense assumption to make.
However, her PSO bill had risen by almost $30 during the past thirty days which shows a significant increase from $135 to $162. As seen in the image below, both the fuel and electricity fees have risen substantially. So, is this a case of PSO being shady, or is there a simple explanation?
Well, according to the PSO – they claimed that whenever there is a power outage, they couldn’t reach the meter, so they charged an average of what those days would be. In other words, the new bill is based on the assumption of power usage.
So, it’s not exactly the PSO doing underhand tricks – however, this policy didn’t go down well with Tulsans who said: “This makes no sense. The power was off. They should not be charging an average.” and “So, we’re getting charged for nothing?”
In fairness, we can see both sides to the argument. From the consumer’s perspective, this system does seem inaccurate when there’s no electricity available. However, from the business view of the PSO – they don’t want to lose money either. Let us know what you think in the comments.
