Urban Pigs Spotted in Dormont Streets – But do you know the backstory?
It’s not every day that you see a giant hog chilling in someone’s yard. This is exactly what happened to someone driving down Hillsdale Ave in Dormont, Pittsburgh. Here, the pig in question was quite large, which may have something to do with its eating habits – as it was seen grazing on the grass. In the photo below, the grey pig wasn’t alone either, as it was accompanied by a black pig as well.
So, what on earth was going on? It turns out, that this pig isn’t just an ordinary pig. In fact, it’s quite a local celebrity. Also known as Tater Tot, he is the goodwill ambassador for Dormont. It looks as though this is his house too, so it actually makes sense to see Tater Tot in this area.
As seen in the above photo, Tater Tot is joined by a friend. Apparently, this pig is his girlfriend, named Patty Cakes. Now, to an outsider, you may think that these pigs are in danger from the passing traffic. However, they are actually very domesticated and spend their time grazing, more than wandering into cars. Not only this but these pigs are also known for being very friendly. So, despite their size – you shouldn’t be scared of these and they actually enjoy being petted.
Over the years, Tater Tot has gained a great reputation in the Dormont area. With this said, if ever you’re in the area then you may just bump into a couple of urban pigs. If so, say hi!
