Located in downtown Denver, you may like the look of this trendy condo. This is fitted with a modern kitchen, spacious bedrooms, and a separate bathroom. In other words, it isn’t exactly one of those tiny box-room condos either. In fact, it may seem like the perfect catch.

However, there is one big issue when it comes to living there. As seen in the screenshot below, the HOA fee costs a whopping $831 per month. Now, the cost alone is $485,000 which isn’t too unheard of for this part of Denver. Still, owning this would be the equivalent of having an extra mortgage payment which would make it unaffordable and off-putting for the majority of those living in Denver.

Put another way, this HOA would cost a total of $9972 per year which is pretty eyewatering considering it’s for a condo.

Having said this, one person that lived nearby wasn’t as disparaging as we are. Commenting on the pricetag, they wrote: “It has high speed business internet, covered secure underground Parking (worth the price alone, honestly), trash, sewage, building maintenance, window washing, a decent gym, and more.” When put like that, it doesn’t sound half as bad. At the same time, it’s still not exactly a steal and that’s a lot of money to part with for luxuries such as window washing and gym use.

Interestingly, this isn’t even the most expensive HOA fee in the area either, as others pointed out that some places often had fees far exceeding $1000 per month. Are we stupid or does this just seem too much to live in an apartment? As ever – it’s all about perspective.
