BIZARRE & Threatening Graffiti Appears All Across Portland

May 4, 2023 by No Comments

Depending on where you live in Portland, you may have seen this strange threatening message appear all over town. So far, it has been sighted in the South Waterfront, Hawthorne, South East & North East Portland.

Nobody is quite sure what the graffiti truly means, with the phrase “You have five days” seemingly springing up almost everywhere this week.

One internet user described the graffiti as “it really gives a nice threatening dystopian vibe rather than the passive dystopian vibe that’s been so popular for a while now”.

Others have speculated that this was a strike on homelessness and some kind of thiny veiled guerilla threat. In short, the homeless people will have five days to move out of the area, otherwise will be forcibly removed. However, there isn’t really any evidence to prove this theory. The laws for moving homeless people out of specific areas always give 72 hours, so it does not make sense that they would have five days.

In summary, there are 4 main theories, but nobody knows which is true:

  • Threat: One possibility is that the graffiti is a threat of some kind. The message “you have five days” could imply that something will happen within that timeframe, and the person or group responsible for the graffiti may be trying to intimidate or scare someone.
  • Prank: Another possibility is that the graffiti is a prank or act of vandalism. The message could be meaningless, and the person or group responsible may have no intention of carrying out any action related to the message.
  • Social commentary: It is also possible that the graffiti is a form of social commentary or protest. The message “you have five days” could be a commentary on a social or political issue, and the person or group responsible may be using graffiti as a means of expressing their views.
  • Marketing campaign: Lastly, the graffiti could be part of a marketing campaign or promotion for a product, event, or organization. The message “you have five days” could be a teaser or hint for something that will be revealed in the near future.
