Thankfully it’s not a common sight to see a religious billboard in Portland, especially one that is threatening you with going to hell. However, this photoshopped god-themed billboard may stop you from wanting to go to heaven – depending on how much you like the Sandy Hut Bar & Lounge.

A local dive bar, everyone who has lived in Portland for a few years will definitely at least know that the bar exists, or a have a few crazy stories from friends who have been there. With $7 meals and cheap booze, Sandy Hut is certainly not getting in to heaven any time soon, but with those prices, why would you want to leave?

For those who are uninitiated, the Sandy Hut bar was established in 1923 and is located on NE Sandy Blvd in Portland, Oregon. It has a reputation for being a dive bar with a retro atmosphere and is known for its classic cocktails and cheap drinks.

The Sandy Hut has a long history in the city and has undergone several transformations over the years. It was originally a tavern that catered to workers in the nearby industrial area. In the 1950s and 1960s, it became a popular hangout spot for sailors and soldiers stationed at the nearby military base.

Today, it continues to be a popular destination for locals and visitors alike, with a laid-back atmosphere and a jukebox filled with classic tunes. If you’re ever in Portland and looking for a unique bar experience, the Sandy Hut is definitely worth a visit.

The real billboard features a standard 855-For-Truth advertisement, which you will likely have seen at some point in your life, especially if you’ve driven through more religious states, since this is a nationwide promotion run out of Ohio.

The bible verse referenced on the bottom right hand corner of the sign is John 3:36 which reads “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.”

So I suppose this means that the choice is yours, you can either reject the son or go to Sandy Hut for a $7 hamburger and $2 beer.

I know where i’ll be going.
