M&M’s Chocolate Roll Cake Recipe

February 9, 2023 by No Comments

Even though I’m a little older now, I can still vividly remember eating copious amounts of M&M’s one Christmas and almost throwing up a kid! Nevertheless, this hasn’t stopped me from loving M&M’s ever since.

Fast forward to modern times and my kids sometimes eat M&M’s as a treat. Whilst not the healthiest snack in the world, you can’t deny that they’re not delicious! Having said this, I’m often one to go against tradition so I decided to mix things up a little. Instead of just eating regular M&M’s, I decided to turn them into a chocolate roll cake instead.

If ever you’ve made a chocolate roll cake then the process of this particular menu is pretty simple. You simply add M&M’s and there you go!

Just look at the way the spoon hits the chocolate above. I’m actually quite proud of that picture, and it looks as though it’s straight out of a cooking magazine. Don’t look at the pictures though, and take my word for it – try it yourself. You won’t regret it!

Ingredients:

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup M&M’s, divided
  • Confectioners’ sugar for dusting

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a 15×10-inch jelly roll pan with parchment paper and grease lightly.
  2. In a large bowl, beat the eggs, sugar, and vanilla extract with an electric mixer on high speed until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the egg mixture until just combined.
  5. Stir in 3/4 cup of the M&M’s.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth out evenly.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Remove the cake from the oven and place on a wire rack to cool.
  9. Once cooled, sprinkle confectioners’ sugar over the top of the cake.
  10. Roll the cake up, starting from one of the short ends, using the parchment paper to help guide it.
  11. Place the roll on a serving platter, seam side down.
  12. Crush the remaining 1/4 cup of M&M’s and sprinkle over the top of the roll cake.
  13. Serve and enjoy & don’t regret!
