Portland Restaurant Goes Viral After Argument Over Whether Meal Box Is Overpriced

This image recently went viral with people on both sides of the fence arguing about whether the meal was good value or not.

The person who took the snapshot was adament that they got a good deal, with $45 spent in total. Where as others were quick to say that $45 is way too much money to spend on a relatively simple fast food meal.

Kee’s #Loaded kitchen is a soul food restaurant located at 5020 NE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Portland, OR 97212 and is open 4 days per week.

One commenter claimed “they’re robbing folk” before being countered that this meal can easily feed 2-3 regular people.

The meal clearly has at least 2 catfish fillets, chicken legs and/or wings as well as mac & cheese, alongside some corn and various condiments.

One #Loaded regular claimed that they often bought the “everything plate” which costs approximately $100. This does sound like way too much money to be spending on soul food from a takeaway restaurant. However, they also mentioned that the everything plate could be split in to 10 different meals, working out at $10~ per serving.

A direct comparison has been made with Roscoe’s in Montavilla where catfish strips cost considerably less than this. Whilst catfish is relatively unusual to find on a menu in Portland compared to the south, it is certainly going to be more expensive the further north you travel within the country.

Other users were quick to point out that food prices have gone through the roof within the past 3 years. If you haven’t eaten out since the pandemic then you would likely be shocked at the prices of other restaurants in PDX.
