Texans Not Happy As Beloved Blue Bell Ice Cream Suffers From HUGE Inflation

July 7, 2023 by 29 Comments

Found in an Aldi store freezer just outside of Houston, a half gallon of Blue Bell now costs a whopping $8.32. Even just one year ago, in 2022, you could find this ice cream priced at anywhere from around $4-$7, which was already not too cheap when compared to other brands. Although Blue Bell is a fairly high quality ice cream and has a lot of unique flavours, so this is to be expected.

Not exclusvie to just Texas, Blue Bell is actually sold in 22 different states, but locals are obviously more fond of it due to where it is produced. However, not everyone is sold on the quality, with some Texas residents claiming that HEB branded “Creamy Creations” ice cream is both superior in taste, as well as being less expensive. Those on a very tight budget can always find a bargain with Aldi branded ice cream as well.

With that being said, even Creamy Creations has been cursed by the virus of inflation too, now costing $7.26 per half gallon. Currently, the inflation rate sits officially at just over 4% per year, however, the dairy industry has been hit harder than average, which has caused prices of ice cream to soar.

If we go back further in time, some 20 years ago, it was possible to pick up 2 half gallons of Blue Bell for $5 if there happened to be a sale on. The chances of this happening now are about as slim as finding a needle in a haystack.

For those not familiar with the brand, Blue Bell Creameries presents a huge variety of timeless ice cream flavors, including their signature Homemade Vanilla, Natural Vanilla Bean, Dutch Chocolate, Milk Chocolate, Strawberry, Ultimate Neapolitan, Great Divide, Strawberries and Coffee. Among these delectable choices, it’s worth noting that the most popular flavor is Homemade Vanilla with its distinctive hand-cranked essence and texture.

At least it’s still a .5 gallon. Other companies kept their price and changed their packaging to 1.50 qts… an entire pint less each container…

Two many different flavors.

When y’all start back making the pineapple sherber, then maybe I will pay that. The ingredients are the same, so why increase the price. Your customers will buy even more if the price is lowered and stay at that price. When I buy it ,I buy in large quantities, but nit at these prices. Give your customers a break

  13. Evanna Hagler says:

Bluebell Homemade Vanilla is our favorite! I’ve only purchased it twice this past year because we cannot afford to pay today’s inflated price. We love it and miss it. We pray for Trump to get back into office so we can afford gasoline, groceries, and Bluebell.

    1. The Rep. says:

      I am with you there.
We need Trump back in office, so he can fix things back to normal. Also ti finish that wall.
